Back from being overwhelmed

It has been a while since I have blogged and I have a very good reason, well actually a few good reasons.

Two reasons were Christmas and New Years. I have never had a boyfriend around any major holidays, so this year was a major change for me. I had to figure out how to squeeze a visit to another house on Christmas. In the end it all worked out and was a very wonderful albeit hectic day.

My New Year's Eve was marvelous although I think LD was a little disappointed in his evening. It was mostly my fault since I was a little to drunk to participate in any bedroom fun. Don't worry I made up for it in the morning.

Now my main reason was wedding planning. With only 10 months until our wedding day we had to book a reception hall. Sounds easy right. Unfortunately it wasn't. I had certain criteria that I had to try to work with. One being LD is in a wheelchair so the hall must be wheelchair accessible. Another was finding a place that could hold 300 people. Oh and since my uncles own a caterering business I also had to find a hall that would allow outside catering. Combine all these with our date and the task became impossible. We called over 30 places and we kept getting the same answers; booked until 2008, only holds 250, or no outside catering.

It finally came down to LD and I making the decision to not use my uncles. My mom was worried that they would be upset with us, but I had no other choice. So then we ran into the problem that the hall we finally decided on was over my parent's budget, but yet they were never available to sit and discuss options with us. After an argument with my mom and a deep talk with LD he decided that he would pick up the reception cost. I felt very bad that he was doing this, but he explained to me that he has the means to do this, so I had to just let him. We turned in our contract last week, so that is one thing done. Actually the hall includes the cake and DJ also, so that is pretty much done too. Yeah.

Also since my last entry we decided on royal blue (the font color) as our color, gerbera daisies as our flower, and we have incorporated a ton of people in to the wedding party for a grand total of 26. I have never wanted a huge wedding, but I have accepted that I have no choice. It was inevitable since my family is huge and so is his. I just figure more people to celebrate with.

It seems that my invitation was lost in the mail. Awkward.

My last wedding was small and easy to do. there wasnt even 100 ppl at ours but we had fun. The DJ got hammered and got lost, and the camera man was soo nervous he messed up a little. It was his first wedding but he didnt do to bad.

honkeie2: Thanks for visiting. Also thanks for your wedding stories. Like I didn't have enough to worry about now I have to be concerned about a drunk DJ.

Whoa, you have been a busy little bee.

And, wow! 300 people? All I can say is..."wow". That's gonna take some planning girl.

Wedding party of 26? How many bridesmaids do you have?

That's well worth it if the hall includes the cake and DJ (it's nice to knock out 3 birds with one stone).
