V-Day

This is going to be my first Valentine's day with a significant someone to spend it with. Actually Munchkin is significant and we usually spend the day together, but you know what I mean. I have never had a boyfriend much less a fiance so this is gonna be an extra special one.

I have no idea what to get LD. I don't want to get him just candy and a card. I want something useful, but cute and love dovey. At first I told him we should just do cards since we are trying to save for the wedding and our 1 year anniversary is in March. He suggested that we combine Valentine's day and anniversary gifts. That sounded like a great idea. Especially since he kinda slipped and I know he has something special planned. He is the worst at keeping surprises.

I have been browsing around and have had a few things jump out at me. I still have a few weeks and even more than that if we decide to give the gifts on our anniversary. Hopefully by then I will find the perfect thing.

Anyone out there want to share what they got there significant other on their first Valentine's or Anniversary?

Fun but Gross

I don't have a lot of time for a post. LD's grandma has been in the hospital with cancer and was put on life support today with DNR, so it is only a matter of days now. I have been spending a lot of time with him.

However I did get sometime the other day to play some computer games with Munchkin. We discovered Kitten Cannon. Although after you play it you may decide that I am a horrible parent. The game is bloody and inhumane to the poor kitten but a blast. Munchkin loved it and we sat for at least an hour playing it.

Our furthest distance was 2,827 feet. See if you can beat it.

Yummy

Have you ever had one of those days that is just blah? Today was one of them. LD's grandma is in the hospital and probably won't make it to the wedding. I made the mistake of entrusting my dad with helping Munchkin make a pinewood derby car for tomorrow, which is still not finished.

I don't know if these 2 problems are really what has cause my blah day or if it is hormones or wedding stress or just plan old regular stress, but ya know what my cure for it is?

A whole bottle of champagne and oh it tasted oh so good.

Insert Foot

Here are 2 conversations between me and Ld over the last weeks.

LD: Hey Hey Hey Hey don't lock the door yet.

Me: Hay is for Horses.

LD: Cows too.

Me: You just called me a cow!!

LD: No no that isn't what I meant.

Here is a little background for this one. LD was getting over a pretty bad cold when this was said.

Me: Would you please stop singing in my ear. You sound like Kermit the frog.

LD: (mumbling)Ok Miss Piggy.

Me: What? Did you just call me Miss Piggy!?

LD: Um, no.

Me: Yes you did. Jerk.

Neither of these incidents bothered me, but it was fun to see LD try to remove his foot from his mouth.

Back from being overwhelmed

It has been a while since I have blogged and I have a very good reason, well actually a few good reasons.

Two reasons were Christmas and New Years. I have never had a boyfriend around any major holidays, so this year was a major change for me. I had to figure out how to squeeze a visit to another house on Christmas. In the end it all worked out and was a very wonderful albeit hectic day.

My New Year's Eve was marvelous although I think LD was a little disappointed in his evening. It was mostly my fault since I was a little to drunk to participate in any bedroom fun. Don't worry I made up for it in the morning.

Now my main reason was wedding planning. With only 10 months until our wedding day we had to book a reception hall. Sounds easy right. Unfortunately it wasn't. I had certain criteria that I had to try to work with. One being LD is in a wheelchair so the hall must be wheelchair accessible. Another was finding a place that could hold 300 people. Oh and since my uncles own a caterering business I also had to find a hall that would allow outside catering. Combine all these with our date and the task became impossible. We called over 30 places and we kept getting the same answers; booked until 2008, only holds 250, or no outside catering.

It finally came down to LD and I making the decision to not use my uncles. My mom was worried that they would be upset with us, but I had no other choice. So then we ran into the problem that the hall we finally decided on was over my parent's budget, but yet they were never available to sit and discuss options with us. After an argument with my mom and a deep talk with LD he decided that he would pick up the reception cost. I felt very bad that he was doing this, but he explained to me that he has the means to do this, so I had to just let him. We turned in our contract last week, so that is one thing done. Actually the hall includes the cake and DJ also, so that is pretty much done too. Yeah.

Also since my last entry we decided on royal blue (the font color) as our color, gerbera daisies as our flower, and we have incorporated a ton of people in to the wedding party for a grand total of 26. I have never wanted a huge wedding, but I have accepted that I have no choice. It was inevitable since my family is huge and so is his. I just figure more people to celebrate with.
