This weekend I got a little taste of how my life is going to be for the next few months and boy is it going to be hard.
I knew from the beginning that LD had planned on employing a family friend to be a caretaker for his farm and animals. This man, I'll call him Joe, would take care of doing the physical jobs that LD is incapable of doing and he would be in charge of the animals if we went out of town.
I know many people that have this type of arrangement and it works great. Unfortunately there are a few down falls to this. At least I think so.
Part of the deal with Joe is that we provide a small house for him on the land, which was fine with me until I found out where LD planned on building it. The house will be built so close to ours, that I can yell from my back porch and they can hear me from theirs. I voiced my concerns on this and LD explained why he wanted it this way. After our discussion he made me realize that his choice was best even if I still didn't like it. Besides if I lived in the suburbs I would have a neighbor even closer.
The other downfall and the one that affects me most is Joe is married. I had no problems with this until my encounter this weekend with Mrs. Joe. Thus is my story..........
I arrive at my future house with my sister for Memorial weekend. I was rather excited about showing off my house since she is my first family member to visit. Shortly after saying my Hellos I started the house tour. Midway through Mrs. Joe interrupts me to point out what she has done. She cleaned the bathroom, she scrubbed the carpet, she rearranged LD's closet and drawer space.
She basically made it sound as if I was incapable of keeping up on the household chores. Um, hello, I don't live there yet. Oh and believe me I know how sloppy these boys are. I have had to clean the house when it was at its worse.
I try to move to the next room, which will be Munchkins, and again she stops me. She explains that she will be hanging some pictures, the ones that I bought to decorate Munchkin's room. I told her not to because it would just cause more work since we still have to paint and figure out the furniture lay-out. Hanging the pictures now would just cause us to have to take them down and cover holes that were put there unnecessarily. She blew me off and said she would do it because it would make Munchkin feel more at home.
Oh if looks could kill she would have been toast. I know what is best for my son and if I thought that some pictures on a wall would make the transition easier than I would hang them myself, but it won't so just step the hell down lady. (I know this is long, but it gets better.)
I then proceeded to show Sister my kitchen and again was interrupted. Mrs. Joe has to show me how she has rearranged the whole damn kitchen. Personally, I think it takes some nerve to go into someones house and rearrange their things. The cleaning I didn't mind since she was trying to make my weekend fun, but the rearranging is my job and I have been looking forward to moving into this house and making it feel like home. Plus now when I move everything back I will look like an ungrateful bitch. UGH.
Now for the best part, Mrs. Joe then turns to me and says that she will clean the house, but that doesn't mean that we can be slobs and leave stuff laying around thinking that she is the maid. Excuse me?? I never said you were gonna clean my house and believe me you will not be in the future.
By this point I was so angry. LD noticed the change in me and cornered me in the bedroom to talk about it. I explained everything that happened. He was upset by the rearranging of things, but she had done that all on her own while he was gone. He told me that it is for me to do and he would tell her not to do it anymore.
I also questioned him about her thinking she was gonna be paid to clean the house in the future. He explained that when the arrangements with the Joes had been made I was not in the picture, so yes she was supposed to be cleaning and also do the paperwork/bookkeeping for the farm. I told him that I won't allow her to clean and that we had discussed me taking a course to learn Microsoft Excel, so that I could do the paperwork. He agreed and said that he would have to go over everything again and we would work it out. That made me feel better.
However there is one more problem. The final contract and house building for the Joes has been put on hold with my moving and the wedding plans, so that means when the contract is finalized this summer the Joes will be living in my basement. I will have to deal with this woman everyday. I have already warned LD that she is gonna cause me alot of stress and that I will most likely take it out on him. He understands and will try to get this whole situation taken care of as quickly as possible.

Another Great Time
Friday night was another fun blogger get together with Lisa, Jaelithe, and Dana. We met up at Kitchen K for some good drinks and food. I love having these meetings because you get to learn so much more about them than you can from their blogs. You get to talk about all those unbloggable subjects and you get to see how animated they can be.
I learned that Dana hates to waste food especially dessert. She just kept scrapping away. I kept waiting for her to pick up her plate and lick it.
Lisa always eats her vegetables. We used that as an excuse for her to indulge in a 3000 calorie dessert. Ok it might not have been 3000, but it looked like it.
Jaelithe loves to shoe shop. She had the cutest heels on that she got to buy while shopping by herself. Her husband watched her little one while she was out spending.
I must admit that I was a little more nervous about this meeting than the last one. I don't know why, but I think it had something to do with me being out of my comfort zone. The restaurant was in the city and I was worried it was a little more classy than I am used to. I am not familiar with the city and when I think of restaurants there I think of all those people that can afford those expensive loft apartments and that know everything about wine and food. I also think of them wearing everything designer, so then it threw me into a fit about what I should wear. (I have been told that I often over analyze. I wonder why.)
I am glad to say that I worked myself up for nothing. The restaurant is great, low-key and easy to find. The girls made me feel very comfortable and at ease just by being themselves. It also might have been the martini, but I only had one and can handle quit a lot of alcohol, unless it it starts with a “T” and ends in “equila”. That is another story. In the end I had nothing to worry about.
If you are interested in seeing pictures then you came to the wrong place. I again was a slacker and didn't have a camera. The other girls have pictures up just a hop, skip, and a jump away.

Some things about me
Mikala did a little interview and I volunteered for her to interview me. Here are the 5 questions she asked me and my answers.
1.How did you meet LD and how long were you dating before he popped the question?
I meet LD through eHarmony. Having a 6 year old and mainly married friends I wasn't doing so well with the whole dating thing. I had a friend suggest eHarmony and I thought hey why not. It took a while, but after a few first dates with other people I lucked out. We had been dating 9 months when he popped the question. Fast I know, but it was just right.
2.What's the biggest mistake you've ever made?
That is a tough question. I have a lot of “what ifs”, but nothing I would consider a mistake. All my choices have gotten me to where I am today. I could say that one mistake was not listening to my gut when it told me to break up with Munchkin's father, but if I would have done that I wouldn't have Munchkin. So I wouldn't call it a mistake. If I really had to make a choice I would say that it was quiting Weight Watchers over a year ago. It really worked for me and I dropped 40lbs and then I quit and it all came back.
3.Do you have any allergies? If so, what are they?
I am allergic to bees, wasp, etc. When I get stung, that area swells up about 3 times its normal size. One year I was stung on my foot and it swelled so bad I couldn't walk on it for weeks. That was the year the doctor made me carry around a bee sting kit, which included a shot I had to give myself. Luckily I have never had to use it.
4.Do you have a specific talent you are proud of? If so, what is it?I can dance and choreograph pretty well. At least I think I can. I can sing, but I am too shy to sing in public, at least by myself. I have actually performed in a few musicals. Another fun “talent” is that I can fit my mouth around a mason jar. You find your most impressive talents when you are drunk.
5.How many siblings do you have? Tell us about them and if you are close.
This could take a while. I have 5 siblings, 2 older brothers and 3 younger sisters. I am the middle child and somewhat the odd ball. My brothers are very close I guess cause they are the boys. My younger sisters are all pretty close because they have similar interests. They all did the cheerleading stuff and I did choir and drama. They all do the whole bar and nightclub thing and I stay home and raise a kid. They all work late nights at restaurants and I work “normal 9-5 hours”. Despite all our differences though we all love to get together and goof around at least once a month. This family time is gonna be missed so much when I move.

I Want One
The talk of babies has been brought up between LD and I quit a few times in the last few months. If it were up to him I would be pregnant right now, but I have different thoughts.
Ideally I would like to have lived in our new house for at least a year. This way I can make sure that Munchkin has adjusted to the move and having LD as a father. Those are 2 huge steps for him. Who am I kidding those are big steps for me too.
Munchkin has voiced his opinion about a baby. He wants one, but only if it is a boy. I am hopeful that with him being a little older (7 this month) there won't be any sibling rivalry. If anything he will be helpful with feedings and diapers, etc.
Another concern I have is that LD's family will favor the new baby over Munchkin. I know this is most likely unavoidable, but I am hoping that the more time Munchkin spends as a family member the less chance there is that he will be pushed aside. I will just have to make sure that I show Munchkin plenty of attention to make sure he doesn't notice the lack of from others.
The reason I bring this up is because it seems like everyone around me is having a baby and it is making my resistance break down. I am to the point now that I want to start as soon as we say "I do". Not right after, but you get my point. Can we say honeymoon baby.

Travel
Planning a trip when one of your party is wheelchair confined is such a pain in the butt. In July LD, I, Munchkin, and LD's family are going on a trip to Disney and then catching the Disney Cruise. We were all very excited about this until we started planning the excursions for when the boat docked. Almost everything is not suitable for electric wheelchairs. To make matters worse we were informed that LD may not even be able to get off the boat in the Bahamas.
We are now debating canceling the cruise even though I would love to go, I would not feel right being able to do all the fun stuff while LD is confined to the boat.
We have run into many different problems when trying to plan trips. We have to be sure that the bathroom we get is a roll-in shower. Even after confirming this with hotel staff we have been given rooms with a bathtub. So LD is left to take sponge baths.
Flying is also tricky. LD has to be transferred from his chair to an aisle chair, which is just a very skinny wheelchair. After this he has to maneuver himself in to the airplane seat. This is complicated by a non-movable armrest. While this is all being done his chair is being transported to the luggage storage in the plane or at least we hope. In previous years LD has said that his chair has been damaged in the transfer. The airline pays for the damages, but it is inconvenient for him to be without a chair. Thankfully the only damages have been to the fabric and are not major.
Most places in the United States are handicap accessible because there are laws and regulations, but flying out side of the US there are no guarantees.
All of these things are making our decision on where to take our honeymoon difficult. I have googled many things that have been helpful. I would love to go somewhere warm and sandy, but that is not the most ideal thing for LD. He would sink on the beach. Although he has said that they do make beach wheelchairs, but if I was him sitting in a hot chair while watching people swim in the ocean does not sound fun to me.
He wants to stay in a cabin or a wilderness lodge. That is fine with me, but then we run into the problems of there not being much to do or the weather being cold.
However I think I have found a solution yesterday. I was doing some more with google and came across Gimp on the Go. It is a website where the editor is in a electric wheelchair and he and others have written stories on what travel places are good for disabled people. The website is very informative. I love it and am so happy that I found it.
On the website he describes a trip to Hawaii and from what he wrote it sounds as if there was tons of stuff for him to do. So now all I have to do is convince LD that is where he wants to go. Wish me luck.

Some Fine Women and a little sweetnees

I'm Back
I made it back from Vegas in one piece and only a little poorer. Winning $250 helped out a lot. We did a ton of stuff, but one main thing we didn't do was go to a “real” Vegas show. You know the ones where the girls are topless, but have huge head pieces. I really wanted to see one, but we never worked it in.
We did however make it to the Playboy Club one night. I was disappointed. I had heard that it was decorated all neat with bunny head accents everywhere. It was so dark in there that you could hardly see any of it. Oh and also in order to get a table you had to buy a bottle of alcohol. We bought 4 drinks for $45, so you can only imagine how much a bottle cost. I think it is fair to say we didn't stay long.
I did have another playboy first that weekend. I actually bought a Playboy magazine for LD. This was my first time buying and looking at one. I bought it cause there was some female wrestler in it and LD loves his WWE. I noticed that Playboy magazine has a lot in common with Cosmopolitan Magazine. They both have 20 or so pages of ads before you get to the good stuff.
I was interrupted before I was able to get to the nude girls, but I did get a chance to read an advice column. One thing that made me laugh was some guy had written in to ask advice on different ways to cook mushrooms. His wife loved to eat mushrooms, but they were getting tired of eating them the same way. Can we say dork. Why would you write to Playboy for that kind of advice? Why not Better Housekeeping or something like that? Then LD's sister made a good point. Maybe they didn't just eat the mushrooms. Ew gross.
Oh and just to rub my vacation in a little more, I was wearing shorts while my fellow St. Louisians were dealing with snow. I enjoyed a nice warm St. Pat's.
